Last week's photos were all about the light. This week, the light was dim and low, the focus blurred. We took an impromptu trip to a neighboring hazelnut orchard at dusk on Ana's birthday. They didn't want to keep still. It really wasn't about the photos at all, but about the three of them running up and down, in their jeans without their hair brushed, full of ice cream and birthday giddiness underneath the trees whose dangling catkins are the first hints of spring. So while these are not perfect on one level, they are absolutely perfect in so many other ways, and they bring me joy whenever I look at them.
