Hello. I am still not receiving my comments in my inbox, so my apologies for those of you to whom I would like to respond. I think from now on I will try to answer questions in the comments themselves, if that is alright with everyone else. Sigh.
Right now I am in the midst of figuring out how to manage and spend my time over the next few weeks. I am designing a web page (!) for the charitable aspect of the children's school, and becoming involved in their library. There is only one librarian with no assistants or budget. And there is truly no where I feel happier than in the middle of a room full of books that need love and attention and distribution into smudged little hands. I did visit the orphanage, but-- well, they are so well run, they really do not need me. I will still pop in from time to time for a cuddle, and they have my contact info if need arises.
Someone asked me for the bread recipe we use for our bread machine-- I think as a result of Amanda's recent post. We make a lot of bread as whole wheat bread is impossible to buy here. Our everyday standby is as follows (I find it needs the white flour for the gluten, and whole wheat is incredibly expensive as well):
3 tsp yeast
200g whole wheat flour
50g bran
200g white bread flour
2 tsp honey
1 tsp salt
1 T butter or oil
320 ml of whole milk
And this picture is fairly random. I just like how they tie things up with grass here.
I guess SouleMama has circled the globe. I made her WHO bread last week and again yesterday - it was so good. Your recipe requires me converting grams into cups. I'm not sure I can handle the math - but the picture makes it look OH SO GOOD - I just might have to try. :)

grams = weight
cups = volume
300 grams of U.S. all-purpose flour = 3 cups
300 grams of U.K. self-raising flour = 2.73 cups
granulated sugar is 190 grams per cup.
250 grams / 190 grams/cup = 1.32 cups
About 1 and 1/3 cups
300 grams of butter is about 1 and 1/3 cups.
200 grams of milk is a little over 3/4 cup.
Here is a general measurement:
Baking powder 1 tsp. = 3.65 grams
Butter 1 cup = 224 grams
Cinnamon 1 tsp = 1.1 grams
Cooking oil 1 cup = 210 grams
Cornmeal 1 cup = 152 grams
Flour 1 cup sifted = 115 grams
Milk 1 cup = 244 grams
Milk 1 quart = 976 grams
Pecans 1 cup chopped = 120 grams
Salt 1 tsp. = 6 grams
Sugar 1 Tbs. = 12.5 grams
Sugar 1 cup = 200 grams
Vanilla 1 tsp. = 5 grams
Walnuts 1 cup chopped = 124 grams
